Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as a general reporter. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She was on the panel during 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. She has covered several notable stories over time, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra affair. Mitchell traveled extensively along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
