Cynthia started her long running career in the industry by making the move from New York to pursue a modeling career. The model signed a five-year contract by Wihelmina Models. She then became the model of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's first cover was among the magazine's most popular covers and an instant favorite with the editor-in-chief at the time, Susan Taylor. Cynthia secured her second Essence cover shortly thereafter and set the stage for a long-lasting career. Following her move to Paris, Cynthia strutted down the Paris Fashion Week runways and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia was a former resident of overseas for nearly one year, came back to New York City where she was very in demand. Advertising campaigns for Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's and Macy's were her initial assignments. The editorials in magazines like Vogue Glamour Elle Essence as well as Vanity Fair followed. One of Cynthia's most memorable moment in her career was the fact that she was selected over Naomi Campbell for a co-starring role opposite Sandra Bernhadt in the film "Without You I'm Nothing."
