Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on 17
November 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra Kay (Gale), nurse, and
Lance Frederick McAdams, an auto driver and furniture mover. She is of English,
Welsh, Irish and Scottish descent. Rachel started acting at the age of
thirteen. She was already performing in Shakespearean plays in summer theater
camp. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater.
After her debut on television on Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998,
Rachel was a part of Canadian TV's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy drama
follows the struggles of Shakespearean theater groups. She was awarded an award
called the Gemini Award for her performance in 2003. Her first big role was in
Mean Girls (2004) as Regina George instantly landed her on the Hollywood's hot
list of young actors. Following the film, she was cast as the opposite of Ryan
Gosling in The Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a smash at the box-office, it
quickly became the most watched romantic drama for the new generation of
filmgoers. McAdams was introduced to Gosling during filming. They dated until
mid-2007. McAdams next showcased her versatility in the screen with the raunchy
comedy Wedding Crashers (2005), the action thriller Red Eye (2005), and the
holiday-themed drama The Family Stone (2005).McAdams then took on the world of
independent films with Married Life (2007), that debuted at the Toronto Film
Festival and also starred Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson.
McAdams was seen in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008),
respectively. She also played in the film The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and
Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's international hit Sherlock Holmes (2009).
McAdams was the determined producer of a failing morning TV show in Morning
Glory (2010), the attractive fiancee of Owen Wilson in Woody Allen's Midnight
in Paris (2011) and then returned to the romantic drama genre with the hit film
The Vow (2012) opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams appears in Terrence Malick’s To
the Wonder (2012) with Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian De Palma's
action thriller Passion (2012).
